Miramar Police are investigating a wild joy ride. A suspect now under arrest for taking a cop cruiser and smashing it into a community residential gate near Flamingo Road.
The incident unfolded shortly before 2 a.m. when officers responded to the 12000 block of Southwest 26th Street for a 911 call about a suspicious person banging on a door, Miramar Police officials said.
The suspect rushed at officers and according to police, threatened them. While trying to detain him, he broke away, sliding into the driver seat of the patrol car and took off.
After the crash, he still wouldn't go easy. Police used a taser and pepper-sprayed him until he gave up.
He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital for an evaluation.
His identity or charges have not been announced.
