Tony Iommi Films New Year Message

Tony Iommi has a New Year message. In a four minute clip shared to social media, the Black Sabbath rocker looked back on 2025 saying it started really well with the release of Sabbath's Tony Martin-era albums and his collaboration with Robbie Williams. He also touched on other key events like Black Sabbath being presented with the Freedom of The City from Birmingham and the band's Back to the Beginning show. Elsewhere in the clip, Iommi revealed that he's continuing to work on his third solo album and it will finally be released sometime this year. He wrapped up the video by promising more updates and wishing fans a happy new year.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD: Rossington's Legacy to Live On?

Gary Rossington has been dead for almost three years, but the Lynyrd Skynyrd co-founder's legacy might live on in the band's next album. Singer Johnny Van Zant told Metal XS, "We have songs that we wrote with Gary that we never recorded." Guitarist Rickey Medlocke added, "We discovered [these songs] shortly after Gary's passing. They brought us a load of tapes and all this stuff -- [Gary's] wife did -- and we discovered we had about 30 songs that Gary had taken part with Johnny and myself and whomever." "And you could hear him talking on the tapes and talking about lyrics and all that stuff. And Johnny and I started talking about.....

possibly doing another Lynyrd Skynyrd record that included Gary's songs on it and stuff."

Van Zant added, "We'll see what the future brings, but we would like to bring that to the forefront and get it to our fans." Gary Rossington died on March 5th, 2023.

OASIS: Liam Can't Help Teasing Fans

Liam Gallagher just can't help himself when it comes to fans wondering when Oasis might tour again. When a fan tweeted about "Oasis 2025" being officially over with a sad gif, he

responded, "Bring on 2027 I mean 2026 I mean happy easter." Of course, this contradicts what Gallagher has tweeted before about no Oasis dates this year. Gallagher did promise that Oasis would shake up the setlist if and when they returned to the road. "If we tour again there will be changes to the set list thems the rules."

Alex Van Halen Teams Up With Toto’s Steve Lukather For Mysterious New Album

Alex Van Halen has confirmed that he is working on a new album with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather. "I'm getting ready to do this record with Lukather and a couple of other people," Van Halen told longtime Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain on the Metal Sticks podcast. "It should be exciting." Van Halen’s legendary drummer didn't dig any further into the nature of the record, and noted that Lukather, famous for his guitar work with Toto and on countless studio sessions, wasn't committed to any specific role in the project. However, it's possible Van Halen is referring to his plans to complete unreleased music featuring himself and his brother and longtime bandmate Eddie Van Halen, who died in 2020 at age 65. Both he and Lukather have discussed this possibility in recent years. In November of 2024, Van Halen revealed that there were "three or four" albums' worth of unheard music in the brothers' vault. "They will stay there until we figure out how and why and what to do with them," he said. "And again, you have to remember, it has to be on the level of where Ed and I, where we used to play. We're not just gonna shovel it in. We have access to some of the greatest musicians on the planet, and a lot of 'em are more than willing to take a chance on some of the stuff." Lukather will assist in going through the unfinished recordings, but he will not be performing on the tracks. “Al asked me to help him go thru a ton of unfinished recordings of Al and Ed writing and recording that never saw the light of day,” Lukather explained. "As of now that’s all I got. The fact that ANYONE would think for even a second that I would play anything on this is ridiculous. I have too much love and respect for that and I play nothing like Ed.”
