It's National Saxophone Day!

It's National Saxophone Day!

There's nothing sexier on a rock song than a sax. Hell you're prctically saying sex when you talk about the sax, and for a significant time in Rock N Roll the sax was as crucial to the sound of rock as the guitar itself. Throughout the 50's and into the 60's the sax was as synonymous with rock as it was with Jazz, and even though its use in rock songs is rare, it's no less special when you hear it now then when you heard it then.

On November 6, 1814, Adolphe Sax invented the saxophone, as he he constructed saxophones in several sizes, throughout the early to mid 1800s, as he received patents on 14 different versions of the design. Since that time the sax has been a permanent part of orchestral woodwinds, jazz bands, r&B, soul, and funk bands, so today we salute one of the coolest instruments ever made, the saxophone!
