The Who Fire A Starr After Their Show

The Who have dismissed drummer Zak Starkey, who's been with the band for 29 years!

Starkey is the son of former Beatle Ringo Starr, and was let go after a dispute with Roger Daltrey that's gone public during the band’s performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

The band, then released a statement,

“The band made a collective decision to part ways with Zak after this round of shows at the Royal Albert Hall,” the statement read. “They have nothing but admiration for him and wish him the very best for his future.”

Daltrey is said to have a problem with Starkey overplaying,

“To sing that song I do need to hear the key, and I can’t. All I’ve got is drums going boom, boom, boom. I can’t sing to that. I’m sorry, guys.” Daltrey said during the show.

Starkey, has drummed for the Who since 1996, and has posted on IG about the split,

“Heard today… that Roger Daktrey, lead singer and principal songwriter of the group unhappy with Zak the drummer’s performance … bringing formal charges of overplaying and is literally going to zak the drummer.”

Maybe he can join can join the Stones now?
