Today we celebrate one of the greatest singers in the history of music, Freddie Mercury!
Regarded as one of the greatest singers in the history of rock music, Mercury defined what it is to be a rock front man with his theatrical style, and artistic direction of Queen.
Joining the band in 1970 with guitarist Brian May and Roger Taylor, as Mercury wrote of their hits, including "Killer Queen", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Somebody to Love", "We Are the Champions", "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". His dominance on stage was made legend with his interaction, with the audience at Live Aid in 1985, as he also worked on solo projects and produced for other artists.
When Mercury passed away from his fight with AIDS in 1991, a concert was held in tribute to him was held at Wembley Stadium, featuring Metallica, Def Leppard, George Michael, Elton John, and Gun ‘N’ Roses, as the charity event benefited AIDS awareness.
Freddie, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, as a member of Queen, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. His contribution to the world of music is timeless, and his fame continues to be solidified by being one of the most recognized voices in the history of rock music.
