The Bell-To-Bell High School Cellphone Ban Could Be Tweaked In Broward

Broward High Schoolers MAY be able to use their cellphones during the thirty-minute lunch break if the board votes to relax the ban today. Superintendent Howard Hepburn wants to keep the bell-to-bell ban, but Board member Rebecca Thompson disagrees. Critics say the full day ban helps students focus, but Thompson says many students work or help with childcare and need to be able to use their phones for scheduling updates. Florida has a statewide ban for students in k-through-eighth grade.
